Originating from the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, this flatbread is part of Saudi culinary heritage and is often enjoyed during family gatherings and festive occasions. Its distinctiveness comes from a unique cooking technique that involves baking a thin, doughy batter on a hot plate or ‘tawa’, resulting in a soft, tender bread perfect for scooping up stews and sauces. The simplicity of the ingredients reflects the resourcefulness of the desert community.
