Ingredients
- fresh octopus – 500 g / 1.1 lb
- coconut milk – 1 cup / 240 ml
- red chili powder – 1 tsp
- turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- fresh curry leaves – 10 leaves
- garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- onion – 1 large, finely chopped
- oil – 2 tbsp
- salt – to taste
- lime juice – 2 tbsp
- black pepper – 1/2 tsp
Instructions
- Clean the octopus thoroughly under cold running water. Cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, and curry leaves to the pan. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the octopus pieces, and cook until they begin to firm up.
- Pour coconut milk over the mixture, season with salt and black pepper, and let simmer for 10-15 minutes until the octopus is tender.
- Finish with lime juice, stir, and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot with steamed rice.
