Ingredients

  • ground beef – 1 lb / 450 g
  • Italian sausage – 0.5 lb / 225 g
  • breadcrumbs – 0.5 cup / 60 g
  • egg – 1 large
  • Parmesan cheese, grated – 0.25 cup / 25 g
  • milk – 0.25 cup / 60 ml
  • fresh parsley, chopped – 2 tbsp
  • garlic, minced – 2 cloves
  • salt – 1 tsp
  • black pepper – 0.5 tsp
  • marinara sauce – 2 cups / 480 ml
  • hoagie rolls – 4
  • mozzarella cheese, sliced – 1 cup / 100 g

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, milk, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the oven for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Slice the hoagie rolls and fill each with meatballs and sauce.
  8. Top with mozzarella cheese slices and place under a broiler until the cheese has melted.
  9. Serve warm.
