Ingredients

  • beef chunks – 1 lb / 450 g
  • onions, finely chopped – 2 medium
  • carrots, diced – 2 medium

  • tomatoes, chopped – 2 medium
  • ginger paste – 1 tablespoon
  • garlic paste – 1 tablespoon
  • cumin powder – 2 teaspoons
  • turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  • coriander powder – 2 teaspoons
  • vegetable oil – 3 tablespoons
  • beef broth – 4 cups / 960 ml
  • salt – to taste
  • black pepper – to taste
  • bay leaves – 2
  • fresh cilantro, chopped – for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
  3. Stir in ginger and garlic paste, cooking for an additional minute.
  4. Add beef chunks and brown them on all sides.
  5. Mix in cumin, turmeric, and coriander powder. Stir thoroughly.
  6. Add tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes, stirring to combine.
  7. Pour in beef broth and add bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  9. Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef and vegetables are tender.
  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
