Originating from the vibrant streets of Brazil, the X-tudo is a lavish rendition of the traditional hamburger, packed with layers of assorted indulgences. ‘X’ stands for cheese (from the English ‘cheese’), and ‘tudo’ means everything, which is precisely what this hearty sandwich promises. Commonly found in snack bars and burger joints across the country, the X-tudo is revered for its complexity and extravagance, offering a symphony of flavors in each bite. Popular fillings include burger patties, ham, bacon, fried eggs, and a variety of vegetables, making it a favorite indulgence after a night out or a comforting meal anytime.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef patty – 4 large (about 1/4 lb each)
  • Hamburger buns – 4
  • Cheddar cheese slices – 4 slices
  • Smoked ham slices – 4 slices
  • Bacon strips – 8 strips
  • Eggs – 4
  • Lettuce leaves – 4 leaves
  • Tomato – 2 medium, sliced
  • Mayonnaise – 1/2 cup / 120 g
  • Ketchup – 1/2 cup / 120 g
  • Frozen corn – 1/2 cup / 75 g
  • Salt and pepper – To taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon strips in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess fat.
  2. In the same skillet, fry the eggs to your liking and season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside.
  3. Grill the ground beef patties in the skillet or on a medium-high grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach desired doneness. Place cheddar cheese slices on each patty to melt during the last minute of cooking.
  4. Meanwhile, add the frozen corn to a pot of boiling water, cook for 3-4 minutes, drain, and set aside.
  5. Assemble each sandwich by spreading mayonnaise and ketchup on the bun halves. Layer the bottom halves with lettuce, a hamburger patty, smoked ham, fried egg, bacon, tomato slices, and a spoonful of cooked corn. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  6. Serve immediately while warm.
