Ingredients

  • sushi rice – 2 cups / 400 g
  • rice vinegar – 1/3 cup / 80 ml
  • sugar – 3 tablespoons / 36 g
  • salt – 1 1/2 teaspoons / 8 g
  • sashimi-grade salmon – 200 g
  • sashimi-grade tuna – 200 g
  • tobiko (fish roe) – 2 tablespoons / 30 g
  • cucumber – 1, julienned
  • carrot – 1, julienned
  • avocado – 1, sliced
  • soy sauce – 2 tablespoons / 30 ml
  • wasabi paste – optional, to taste
  • pickled ginger – to serve
  • nori (seaweed) – 1 sheet, cut into strips

Instructions

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package instructions, then allow it to cool slightly.
  2. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved, then fold gently into the rice.
  3. Spread the vinegared rice in a large bowl or platter.
  4. Arrange slices of salmon and tuna over the rice artistically.
  5. Scatter cucumber, carrot, avocado slices, and tobiko on top.
  6. Garnish with nori strips and serve with soy sauce, wasabi paste, and pickled ginger.
