- fresh parsley – 10 g / 0.35 oz, chopped
- garlic cloves – 2, minced
- large eggs – 2
- salt – 1 tsp
- black pepper – 1/2 tsp
- olive oil – 4 tbsp / 60 ml
- tomato passata – 700 ml / 24 oz
- onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked bread (squeeze out excess milk), pecorino cheese, parsley, garlic, eggs, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix thoroughly using your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into balls approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Pour in tomato passata and stir. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer in the sauce for 25-30 minutes, adjusting seasoning if necessary.
- Serve hot with crusty bread or pasta of choice.
