- ground beef – 1 lb / 450 g
- soy sauce – 2 tbsp / 30 ml
- oyster sauce – 1 tbsp / 15 ml
- sesame oil – 1 tsp / 5 ml
- green onions, chopped – 1/4 cup / 25 g
- garlic, minced – 2 cloves
- ginger, grated – 1-inch piece
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms, about 10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For the filling, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, cook until browned. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle, about 3 inches in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges and pinch to seal the bun.
- Place the buns seam side down on parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
- Steam the buns over simmering water for about 15 minutes until cooked through.
