Ingredients

  • milk – 1 cup / 240 ml
  • butter – 1/4 cup / 60 g

  • active dry yeast – 1 packet / 2 1/4 teaspoons / 7 g
  • egg – 1 large

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk until warm, then stir in the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add in the milk mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Shape the dough into a long oval loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing.
