Ingredients
- all-purpose flour – 4 cups / 480 g
- milk – 1 cup / 240 ml
- butter – 1/4 cup / 60 g
- sugar – 2 tablespoons / 25 g
- salt – 1 teaspoon / 6 g
- active dry yeast – 1 packet / 2 1/4 teaspoons / 7 g
- egg – 1 large
Instructions
- Heat the milk until warm, then stir in the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add in the milk mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Shape the dough into a long oval loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let cool completely before slicing.
