Ingredients
- wholemeal flour – 3 cups / 360 g
- all-purpose flour – 1 cup / 120 g
- baking soda – 1 teaspoon
- salt – 1 teaspoon
- rolled oats – 1/2 cup / 50 g
- buttermilk – 2 cups / 480 ml
- honey – 2 tablespoons
- butter, melted – 2 tablespoons
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a large bowl, combine the wholemeal flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and oats.
- In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk, honey, and melted butter.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
