Ingredients

  • wholemeal flour – 3 cups / 360 g
  • all-purpose flour – 1 cup / 120 g
  • baking soda – 1 teaspoon
  • salt – 1 teaspoon
  • rolled oats – 1/2 cup / 50 g
  • buttermilk – 2 cups / 480 ml
  • honey – 2 tablespoons
  • butter, melted – 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the wholemeal flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and oats.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk, honey, and melted butter.
  4. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
